Rahim Hussein, BA

Postgraduate Researcher

I am currently pursuing an MSc in Health Psychology at the University of Derby, building on a BA in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Sheffield. Alongside my studies, I have worked across the private, public, and community sectors - including roles in software consultancy at RSM and MRI Software, and frontline support positions in social housing and within the NHS. These diverse experiences have deepened my interest in the psychological, organisational, and structural dynamics of health and social care systems, and in shaping more effective, integrated service provision. I am particularly interested in how the application of behavioural science, such as The Behaviour Change Wheel framework, can improve collaboration between services and enhance health outcomes.

I am also examining workplace well-being within the context of health psychology, with a focus on supporting health and social care workers by reducing burnout and promoting flourishing. Additionally, I am interested in psychological interventions that support both patients and practitioners, including the Chimp Management model and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Further areas of interest include male cancer health promotion, behaviour change strategies, and psychosocial support following diagnosis, such as Goal-Focused Emotional Regulation Therapy (GET).

I am passionate about applying psychological theory to real-world challenges and contributing to more compassionate, effective, and sustainable health and social care systems. In my spare time I enjoy live music, running, and the theatre.
